Givenchy: Ricardo Tisci’s Gothic Glamour

In the world of fashion, as in any, really, your reputation precedes you. The hardest part of it all is working at one of the Grandes Maisons, labels specialized in haute couture that have been around for a while now. Why? Because there are a lot of expectations, like, for example, “Will s/he be able to keep up the brand’s style and add his/her personal touch?” or “Will s/he just imitate the previous designer”. But hey! The good news is that this is just at the beginning, when the public is sort of testing you. If you survived a whole year, you made it. There are even some times when the acceptance is so big the designer becomes the maison, like Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel or Ricardo Tisci and Givenchy.

1) Look A
Givenchy is one of the big legends, and belongs to the classics-with-a-style-not-so-classic; well, no, what could be classier than Holly Goligthly’s (Audrey Hepburn’s) beautiful black dress at “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”? Yes my friends, a Givenchy production. Being completely honest, I recently watched “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and that’s were I thought to myself: “Hey! Why haven’t you written about Givenchy?” So here I am.

After Hubert de Givenchy, founder of the label, John Galliano (former Dior Creative Director) took it over, but it was until 2005 when Givenchy’s Womenswear division passed to Tisci’s hands.  In 7 years, Ricardo Tisci has shown us a new both, glamorous and gothic face of Givenchy that we love more and more as seasons go by. Want to love it too? Parfait! Here, from the Spring-Summer 2013 Prêt-à-Porter Givenchy Collection, my Top Three:

2) Look B
1) Look A. Interesting indeed. I love the blouse. The cut of the upper layer is unusual, but it completes perfectly the look along with the halter underneath. Halter blouses make your neck look longer, stylize your torso and give the illusion of leaner arms. The transparencies used are a trick to make them think you’re not showing anything but then again, you are. Also, see how the layer on top is bigger? It is so because that way people perceive the body covered with the halter is smaller (in other words, thinner). The metallic brooches give it a futuristic taste, don’t they? Though I’m not sure about the detail on the neck. I mean, it does reflect light, but then again, makes the neck look thicker, counteracting the effect of the halter. What do you think? I adore the shoes. That barefoot appearance is the perfect to go with the artificiality of the rest of the outfit. The skirt is really pretty, pencil cut with the piece of fabric on the front that sways along as you walk. The metallic brooches in this part of the look make you focus on the central part of the body, marked by the part of fabric that hangs at the center of the skirt and is smaller than the whole piece, making you look thinner. Again, layers.

3) Look C
2) Look B. Turtle neck to make the neck appear longer. Sleeves that open at the end for the visual effect of smaller hands. Stitches at the center to divide the body in two and make the torso appear smaller. Stitches under the shoulders to make the arms appear leaner. The star of this outfit is the skirt (same as the previous one) and it’s tail. Look how it flows with the wind! If only life could be like that!

3) Look C. Now, this is what I was talking about! Hello, Gothic princess! The upper part is gorgeous! Look at the detail on the neck! Wow! So many faux necklaces and the fact that they’re in dark colors, make the neck look longer. The bagginess on the upper part of the body is meant to contrast to the faux belt on the waist, so it appears to be smaller. The fact that the skirt (from hips to the edge) isn’t wider than the top makes us look thinner.  The black jeans underneath are just to make it casual, but here’s an interesting effect you may cause if wearing leggings: Tell me, where are the knees? The legs seem longer than they really are, making us look taller and generally, slimmer.

I’d certainly explore my dark side wearing Givenchy, I mean, wouldn’t you? Gotta go, crazy diamonds! And remember, shine all over and dream on because that’s what we’re meant to do! Lotta Love. Ciao!

Copy Cat-Walk: Poppy Delevingne

Read it here! : ) http://wp.me/p2X2CO-2y

Fashion is a portrait of us. The way we dress says so much about who we are, you wouldn’t believe all the messages we send to others with a pink blouse instead of a black hoodie. Do you know that when we have a conversation, what the other person understands is 16% speech and 84% body language, facial expressions, voice modulation and clothing?

Every celebrity (you name it) has its own personality, which makes him or her outstand among the rest. The Rich & Famous always know how to impregnate their look with their personality, that’s what makes them so easy to remember. Think of Lady Gaga or Cher. Their clothes are crucial. Are your clothes a reflection of your Psyque?

“Copy Cat-Walk” is a brand new section of “I’m Too Editor’s Choice”. Here, our favorite looks (modeled by our beloved celebrities) will be dissected so you know how to include some of their key elements to your closet. Are you ready?

For the premier, our opening dissection will be done to Poppy Delavigne in CHANEL (of course).

But first things first:

Who is Poppy Delevingne?

British model, socialite and CHANEL ambassador.

What is she wearing?

Short black long sleeved straight cut dress made of transparencies and lace, with a black “body” underneath it. Wearing the whole thing instead of two-piece underwear (traditional or not) is way better. You’re showing too much skin already, so when wearing something like this, cover the part of yourself that attempts to be covered.

I love transparencies (as many of you may know) and this is not an exception. They make us look so elegant and classy yet contemporary at the same time! My favorite part is the length of the skirt. I adore little dresses, skirts and shorts! They stylize our figure so much! We look taller and thinner and with some killer legs. The shoes are the right pair because they’re covered all the way, leaving only the legs exposed (no “feet skin” is shown).

Dresses like this are everywhere and even if they don’t have the transparency, the design is really good and favors almost everybody.

So, what do you say? Do you already know what kind of dress you’re gonna wear for your next party? I do!

Have a wonderful day, crazy diamonds! Shine all over & dream on!

Lotta love x

Giambattista Valli: “I want a woman to feel the cut of the scissors in the clothes.”

“I discovered the flou and the language of Paris.”
Giambattista Valli

Read us here! :) It's prettier: http://wp.me/p2X2CO-ar
Are you familiar with this name? Well, I must admit I wasn’t until a couple of months ago. The first time I saw one of his designs was, obviously, on a page of a VOGUE Magazine, and since then, I just kept tripping on images of his beautiful designs almost every time I flip a page of a fashion magazine. It’s natural if a few of us are not related with this label because it’s only seven years old. Wow, right? So recognized in such a short period of time! Well, that’s what talent grants you, my friends.

1) Look A
Valli’s designs are complex (generally composed by more than one layer and more than two textures) and very womanly. The dominant colors of the Spring-Summer 2013 collection are golden, white and red. The effects? Transparencies. Texture? Fabric flowers. Cuts? To the waist.  Generally I try to vary the sort of clothes I choose for the top three, meaning I usually pick looks composed by pants, chemises, blazers, skirts, sweaters and dresses. This time, however, I chose what I think summarizes the best Valli’s style: Dresses.

Ready or not, here we go! The Top Three:

2) Look B
1) Look A.  “SPRING IS HERE!” or so it seems to shout to the world. The first look is this fabulous, classy and super girly white flowered dress. The faux- V-cleavage makes the upper part of the model’s body look longer- as if needed. I love the fact that is a fake cleavage because if it had that cleavage instead of the circular neckline it actually has got, it wouldn’t be as elegant; I mean, the skin would be just a little bit too much. The frills a the waist help dissimulate any abdominal bump existent, helps your waist look smaller and your hips look wider. The cut at the front of the skirt differences it from an average pencil skirt, giving it movement and a kind of relief that makes it unique –plus, it makes the walking easier-.

2) Look B. Hello, tsarine! I picked this dress because it makes the transition from season to season easier; meaning the designer still keeps some details from Fall-Winter on this piece. Examples: Long sleeves and the baroque look of the faux red jacket. Also, the color combo; I don’t know why white and red remind me of Christmas time. Anyway, the whole thing is beautiful: Look at the red flowers detail! That lace is exquisite. The white fabric is ideal for this season, why? It’s very thin and fresh, plus it reflects the light of the sun giving us a precious nacre glow. The pin-up shorts underneath the dress are an excellent idea, because we can still use the transparencies to our favor- a woman’s legs are the hell of a weapon- and look super graceful and zero improper.

3) Look C
3) Look C. Roses. The first thing I thought when I saw this dress was: “Roses”. Look at it closely; the detail of the skirt makes it look like the petals of one of the most romantic flowers that ever existed. The lace gives a sensual air to the whole piece, and the transparencies, again, keep it from showing a little bit too much. Transparencies are perfect for eye-illusions; they mock our senses badly. For example, take a look at the lace part just under the draped skirt: it’s got a pointy end and leaves uncovered the upper part of the legs. Frontal pointy ends in skirts aren’t very recommended, and even less when they show that much of our legs, but hey! You know what! Here’s transparency to save the day, turning a not-such-a –good-idea to an oh!-wow-I-must-have-it.

It sort of reminds me of Valentino and Elie Saab, what do you think?

Well, I hope you enjoyed meeting a label that promises to turn into a legend in the fashion world.  I certainly did.

Oh! I wanted to apologize, I know I promised to write three times a week but I find it impossible with such little free time. I learned my lesson: only make promises you can accomplish, be careful not to overestimate yourself- believe me, it happens more often than you may think-. What I can promise is writing the best posts on every Thursday, ok? Again, I’m truly sorry. I am.

So, after the moral learning of the week, all that’s left is to say goodbye- for now. Shine all over and dream on, crazy diamonds! See you next Thursday? Lotta love.

Dior: L’Haute Couture has never been so neat

“Zest is the secret of all beauty. There is no beauty
that is attractive without zest.”
- Christian Dior

Read it in here! :) http://wp.me/p2X2CO-4c It's prettier! ;)

So, it’s been a while since we have spoken about Haute Couture, and I know I said I would stick to Summer-Spring 2013 but it’s just that I can’t possibly go on to the next season without talking about Christian Dior. I mean, let’s just be honest, when someone says “French Maisons” what do you think about? Yes, Chanel and Dior.

As a matter of fact, those two marked the beginning of fashion as we know it today, always honoring one of the main commandments in the industry: simple is better. “Oh! But we have talked a lot about designers mixing textures and styles in a very Baroque way!” Well, yes, rules were meant to be broken, but here’s the thing, you just don’t go ahead and break them, you have to know how to do so. As in pretty much everything, we have three groups on the field: the conservatives, the moderates and the liberals.

Obviously, do to the constant changes in today’s world, the liberals have the biggest number of designers enrolled, why? Because there are so many tendencies somebody has to cover, it would be a total waste to leave the public unattended. Of course, some of us are more, well, “old fashioned”. Some people will always need something timeless, and as we all know, the only ones that can fit in the profile are classics.

I must admit that another thing that kept me from writing about Dior was the scandal they had with their previous creative director: John Galliano, whose anti-Semitic attitude won him out of the Maison. I didn’t know what to expect from the new designer on board, Raf Simons, since I somehow picture the departure (very justified departure) of Galliano as Lagerfeld leaving Chanel. But clearly my fears had to reason to be, because Dior as a whole knew what it was doing, and Raf Simons is taking us back to the designs of the very founder of his kingdom: Christian Dior.

Christian Dior believed the clothes would help a woman stand out only if she had the right attitude, I mean, it’s such a shame when the clothes end up wearing you instead of being the other way around! Designers as Dior or Chanel wanted the person itself to be the focus of attention, not what they were wearing, the clothes just have to pump our personality, not overshadow it.
Wooh! I that was a long introduction, but hey! You had to know the context! Now, are you ready to see Dior’s newborns? Here, from the Haute Couture Fall- Winter 20120-2013 collection of Christian Dior, we have my Top Three.

1) Look A
1) Look A. Talking about timeless… look at that! And of course, it had to be black, the true color. Tell me if you wouldn’t look at yourself in the mirror while wearing this and say: “Mirror mirror, on the wall, who’s the classiest of them all?” There certainly is no-need for an answer when a picture is worth a thousand words. The long V cleavage matches perfectly with the open cut of the pleated skirt. It’s versatile and will never let you down. The black long sleeves that practically act as a second skin stylize the arms, and the cut just under the ribs help dissimulate your belly if any. There’s no texture and the thickness of the fabric makes it even more uniform. Perfect. Want to look like Grace Kelly, anyone?

2) Look B
2) Look B. My God! Look at that beautiful skirt! I love every waist-high cut, because it doesn’t just make you look taller, it also makes you look slimmer. The “thinner” effect is strongly supported by the puffiness of the skirt, which makes the upper part look teeny tiny.  The texture, color selection and pattern of the skirt make you think you don’t need anything else but a plain pair of shoes and a plain t-shirt; and well, that thought would be accurate, look at the outfit! The t-shirt is very delicate and generic. The fabric? I’d dare to say is silk, but I’m not so sure.

3) Look C
3) Look C. This was the star of the collection, and what a star! Shining brighter than the sun, huh? Again, long sleeves. The upper part of this dress is pretty much the same as the upper part of the previous look. ¿The lower part? Pretty much as the first look, but longer. Yellow is one of my favorite colors, but you have to be careful when wearing it, because well, brighter colors can make your body look bigger than it really is. Especially this dress, so tight at the waist, shouldn’t be worn by anyone who hasn’t got plain abs. Has it been black, like the first one, well, you might trick the audience, but with such color, no way.

So, what do you think? Has Raf Simons honored Christian Dior’s name? Totally. As you saw, all the pieces were eternal, completely immune to any trends or fashions; they’ve got a style of their own that know how to compliment any woman. Compliment and complement, because remember, fashion is a mere accessory to your personality and it helps you define yourself only if you have something to define.

My! Look at the time! I’ve got to go, but hey, crazy diamonds! Shine all over and dream on! See you next week? Lotta Love.

Jean Paul Gaultier- L’Enfant Terrible is here to steal the spotlight

Read us here!: http://wp.me/p2X2CO-6p It's prettier :)
"Dressing is a pleasure; clothes are not a joke.”
- Jean Paul Gaultier

Why Jean Paul Gaultier? The real question is why did I wait until now for Jean Paul Gaultier?! This grand couturier has dressed personalities such as Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard and Lady Gaga, and I must admit the last celebrity is the actual reason I dedicated this week’s post to l’enfant terrible.

1) Look A
You see, last Sunday I was watching E! and some TV show comparing Gaga’s and Madonna’s styles popped up. Towards the ending, they showed Gaga in a beautiful JPG gown, all black with a gorgeous collar with golden details and huge feathers framing Gaga’s face. It was outstanding, you know why? Because it was classy yet risky and gothic at the same time. I really believe it has been the best outfit Gaga has come out with ever, and believe me, I’m a huge fan of hers and, of course, of clothing. Anyway, then I remembered when I was checking out the new prêt-à-porter fall-winter 2012-2013 at Vogue.fr, the first post was dedicated to him, which I totally should have interpreted as a sign to write about him ASAP!

But oh, well! No more “What ifs”! Let’s cut the blah blah blah and start with what we all care about: The Top Three.

2) Look B
1) Look A. Is that a dress? No! it’s a black velvet jumpsuit with a faux heart neckline that’s got covered the rest of the chest up to the neck and most of the arms with an extraordinarily vaporous fabric. Don’t you love the effect? It makes the femme fatale outfit actually pretty classy! It gives a sort of black wings to the model. Gaultier is an expert on making glam black angels. Jumpsuits are generally pretty good on making you look taller and slimmer, no mention the little black vest reduces the amount of clothing seen underneath and makes you look thinner still (if you have a little waist, if not, use a longer vest, one that finishes right at the hips). See the big necklace? Stay away of those unless you have a long neck, otherwise it will disappears and the neck is one of the most beautiful characteristics of human beings.

3) Look C
2) Look B. What a dress, ladies (& gentlemen, if any)! Transparencies, transparencies everywhere! I love the contrast of textures and the iridescence of the fabric! The color lies somewhere between a dark-greenish blue and a yellowish green, and though I’ve never seen it before, I think it’s a perfect fit for this season, don’t you? The imperial cut (tighter right in the middle of the ribs, under the breasts) makes the skirt fall beautifully, due, in part to the lightness of the material used on its making. This kind of dress favors almost any women. Do you see what he did with the sleeves? How they’re a little bit more open? Well, it serves the purpose of making the arms look thinner and longer. The geometry employed on the design is delightful and, in a way, adds symmetry to the body, which, believe it or not, potentiates our beauty (or so its said).

3) Look C. Talking about geometry, look at that! Transparencies and black and velvet and leather: Gaultier (if you have any questions, look at the pattern right where the legs begin, you’ll see his name written pretty clearly). What can I say about this work of art? Maybe just, if you’re planning on wearing it outside a gala or a red carpet, you should probably put something underneath; I mean, it’s a little bit too much skin. Oh! Just not something black, please! Wear something salmon or peach or nude or yellow, it’ll look way better. Even white or gray are acceptable, just stay away from black because you’ll totally mess up the details. The triangles upside down help the upper part of the body look longer, and the velvet at the end of the skirt is a faux end, so it actually looks shorter than it is. The section of the chest is perfect, because it sobers up the whole thing.

So, now you know! Whenever you want to steal the spotlight and look like Marilyn Monroe in her rock star mode, go for Gaultier! I’m crazy about his designs and his outrageous style, what about you?
Oh, I know! You’re shining all over and dreaming on, crazy diamonds aren’t you? Well, go on lighting up the world and ‘til next post! Lotta Love.

P.S. All the photos were taken from Vogue.fr, do you want to see rest of these pieces of art?

Isabel Marant: Westerns are back… in Paris

Read us here!: http://wp.me/p2X2CO-9k It's prettier! ;)

September is already here, do you know what that means? You'd better get ready for fall!!! The first entry of this month is going to be dedicated to westerns, why? Keep reading!

Honestly speaking, I’ve never been a fan of westerns, probably because to me they’re foreign and I take them as part of the folklore of another country. Say for example, when someone says the word “Western” what comes to my mind are cowboys, so that’s pretty much why I chose this title for today’s post. Isabel Marant’s Fall-Winter 2012-2013 takes us back to those characteristic landscapes where duels took place and checked chemises and boots ruled the place.

1) Look A
Isabel Marant is relatively new in the business, and it’s a little bit more relaxed than the rest of the designers, mainly because she doesn’t work with haute couture; even though this is prêt-à-porter, it can be considered as way too relaxed compared to other maisons.

Anyway, we don’t always have to be all fancied, we could also wear more comfortable clothes and still look super fashionable. Wait! Comfortable and fashionable? Well, yes, it is possible. Don’t believe me? Take a look to Isabel Maran’ts top three!

2) Look B
1) Look A. Didn’t I tell you? Totally western. This look, composed by a white blouse, a white skirt and a blue & gold patterned belt is super simple and super comfy. Advantages? You can wear this almost anywhere in daytime! At school, at Starbucks, at SoHo… The embroidering on the blouse is beautiful (don’t you love the heart in the middle of it), and of course, the star of this season’s prêt-à-porter: transparencies. The skirt is actually very casual and the design isn’t complicated, the special thing about THIS skirt is that it is made of silk, which makes it compliment our movement, making us look more graceful.

2) Look B. More western! I’m in love with the white silk chemise. The pattern made out of applications is elegant and stylizes the figure, how? Well, see how it sort of outlines the upper part of the chest? There’s a sort of cleavage included, and remember what I always say, division lines on your outfit make you look taller and thinner. Also, the line that divides the torso helps us to look fitter. The black leather skinny pants help your legs look longer and much more defined. This, as well the skirt on the previous look and the golden belt on this one, is easy to find at any mall if you know where to look for it.

3) Look C
3) Look C. The Western Queen. So far we had observed only daytime outfits, but what do you think about this alternative version of “the little black dress”? I say, “Yes, please”. It’s got some golden embroidery and applications that make a faux cleavage that elongates our torso. The high of the skirt makes the model’s legs look longer and makes her look even taller. Just remember! When wearing something this short, please don’t wear heels! It might look distasteful and that’s a big “No! No!”

I think what I really like about Isabel Marant is that her looks aren’t complicated at all, and for all the fashionistas on training, it is an easy style to follow, since she uses pretty simple clothes. What do you think? Will you bring the Western back to your closet? I’m already on it!

I hope you enjoyed the post and I’m sorry I didn’t write to you last Thursday! You know how college is, but it won’t ever happen again! I promise! As my friend Eliza said, there are no excuses for leaving the blog unattended, fashion deserves better! So, you know what? I’m going to blog 3 times a week, because it’s totally worth it.

Well, with that being said, shine all over and dream on, crazy diamonds! Have a wonderful day! (I will).

P.S. All the photos were taken from Vogue.es; here’s the whole collection!

Paco Rabanne: Beyond One Million

Read us here! :) http://wp.me/p2X2CO-9z it's prettier! ;)

If I could describe Paco Rabanne in one word, it would be “originality”. I mean, let’s be honest, this guy really has got creativity! Don’t believe me? You’ll see it in a bit. So, why did I choose Rabanne for this week’s post? Simple, because he’s a great designer and most people only have heard of him because of his perfumes: “One Million” and “Lady One Million”; not fair at all.

In order to expose & analyze Rabanne’s works of art, I picked my favorite looks of the Fall- Winter 2012-2013 collection. Are you ready? Here you go! My top three:

Look C
1) Look C.  The third place goes to this black & golden suit. I love the longitude of the blazer, the golden details on the side, and how it opens in the end. Especially the design on the bottom edges of the blazer caught my attention, because it adds a beautiful motion, resembling to the frailty of a butterflies wings. The pants are average black but the belt does add a certain something, plus, do you see what he did with the belt and the blazer’s edges? He’s framing the blouse the… metallic blouse! I mean, those look like coins, right? Who else would have thought of doing such a thing? And in such a striking way? Nobody, nobody, nobody…

Look B
2) Look B.  The second place goes to this leather & metal black blouse and skirt (although it looks like a little black dress, right?). I love the shreds, I just love how they hang all over and the glow of the plastic look they have. The thing about this look is that it uses very conservative patterns but turns them all around! Take a look at the skirt, for example; see the buttons on both sides of it? That’s a classic, but we’re used to it in its regular making, made on regular fabrics. Also, see the neckline detail? That’s the one most of us used as little girls but, oh, wait! It’s made of leather and framed with a super thin metal chain.

Look A
3) Look A.  The first place goes to this black, gray and blue dress. Now, the real question here is, what is it made of? It looks like chips, like those used on board games and casinos. Well, I think it’s a brilliant idea to do something like this: it’s futuristic, it’s unique and reminds me of the dresses used for Charleston. The long V neckline is ideal for stylizing the upper part of the body and the division right at the hips is truly clever because it means any woman would look great in that dress (Yes, any).

Well, what do you think? Next time you hear “Paco Rabanne”, will you go beyond “One Million”? If you do, my work here is done.

Have a wonderful day (morning, noon, afternoon, evening, night) and remember, shine all over and dream on, crazy diamonds!

P.S. All the photos were taken from Vogue.fr; go ahead and take a look!

IN VOGUE: It’s all about Marni, honey!

Read it here! : ) http://wp.me/p2X2CO-2o

As we all know, VOGUE sets fashion; if it’s in VOGUE, it’s on. A few months ago I was going through Vogue.fr (my personal favorite) and, in the section of “Croisière 2013”, I found on top of the page a picture of a look that belonged to a kind of style I certainly hadn’t seen before; the name on the image? Marni. I didn’t pay much attention to it because I was looking for Chanel, but the word “Marni” kept repeating itself over and over in my mind. A couple of weeks ago I bought this month’s edition of VOGUE and in one note about Eva Mendez, I saw a picture of a shoe that reminded me of Chloé with a bit of Blanhik; guessed the fashion label? Marni.

What happened next? I decided my next entry on this blog was going to be about Marni, and here it is.

What should you know about Marni? It’s relatively a young fashion label and it is so, a fashion label, not couture. The designer has been Consuelo Castiglioni from the start and, as the name suggests, it’s Italian.

Marni’s looks are definitely something to think about, because the cuts of the clothing are conservative, but the patterns are something you’d never imagine in such garments; and that, my dear readers, is exactly what makes it fabulous: the creativity behind the surprise that makes us say: “Ah!”

1) Look 3
Here are my top three belonging to, as you may have deduced by now, Croisière 2013:

1) Look 3. First word that comes to my mind to describe this? Tomboy, don’t you think? I love the pants, we’re so used to the skinny ones that this change is definitely for good. The horizontal stripes make the part of the legs look thicker, but due to the baggy effect, this visual illusion makes us believe that the legs underneath the pants are actually thinner. The lightness of the lower part of the outfit contrast perfectly with the vivid colors on the upper one: the hot & cold of the chemise is always a good choice (red + blue). The vertical lines on the chemise make the upper part of the body look longer and slimmer. The detail on the neck is really a nice touch. I wouldn’t wear the brooches, though.

2) Look 2
2) Look 2. As you may know by now I love transparencies, and this skirt looks just gorgeous. The A –Cut makes the waist look smaller, and the belt precisely on the waist, helps out the effect. This double division, one marked by the belt and one marked by the top of the skirt, make the upper part of the body look longer. The chemise is cute, but what really pumps it up is the brooch. I love the long socks and I certainly would give a try to those moccasin-wedges, the next “it” style talking about shoes, perhaps?
3) Look 1

3) Look 1. I didn’t know how much I liked the pink-deep blue-white combo ‘til I saw this; it’s beautiful! The coat is super classy and I love the buttons on both sides of it. The chemise is pretty, again with vertical lines in the middle of it. The skirt up to the waist makes her look thinner but due to the socks, she also looks shorter (which is like crazy, because the model is at least 1.75m). I’m not a big fan of the shoes, too average. The brooch is amazing. I think what really makes this a knock out is the matching of the elements, I mean, by themselves they’re great, but together they’re fantastic.

Well, hey! That’s what fashion is all about, equilibrium of the elements. So, what do you think? Did you like it? If not, I hope at least you enjoyed reading this and adding more knowledge to your already wide collection of fashion information.

Thank you so much for reading “I’m Too Editor’s Choice”, I’m looking forward to next week, do you know why? Because I’ll be talking about the one designer that made me question my loyalty to La Grande Mademoiselle!

Shine all over and dream on, crazy diamonds!

London Taste with McCartney and McQueen: The Olympics reach the runway

Read it in here! :) http://wp.me/p2X2CO-3M It's prettier ;)

Some of you may love the Olympic games, some others may just hate them and can’t wait ‘til they’re finished this weekend; what we can’t deny is that they’re what’s hot, so I thought: “Why not?”

As we know the Olympics are currently taking place at London, so that’s why I chose British designers for this post. The ones I picked are Stella McCartney (because her dad sang at the opening and it sort of reminded me of her) and Alexander McQueen (by Sara Burton, who designed the wedding dress for Catherine Middleton).

How is this post going to work? Well, when participating at any sports events, the contestants gain and lose points depending on their performance, so I took the best and the worst looks of both designers (belonging to the Croisière 2013 collection) in order to evaluate the collection and see who deserves the gold medal on the runway.

Ready? Go!

Stella’s Best

(Left to Right) The fist look is very fresh due to the floral pattern, and I think it’s perfect for summer. The skirt goes up to the waist, which makes the model look taller and fitter, while the neckline is a long V, giving the illusion of a longer neck and a narrower chest.

The second look is really chic. The open sleeves make the arms look thinner. The dress is divided in three: below the ribs, right at the hips and 10 cm under the knees. The block that goes from below the ribs to the hips is covered in strings, dissimulating any existing volume at the stomach. The string details are gorgeous and take us back to the fifties; they’re super glamorous.

The third look is a beautiful suit, all in black, with pants that go up to the waist and a jacket that ends 15 cm below the hips. (Tip: Wearing longer jackets make anyone look thinner and taller.)
Accumulated note: (1st 98 + 2nd 95 + 3rd 97) /3= 96

Stella’s Worst

Ok, I know I’m NOBODY to judge Stella McCartney, but I’m sorry, I hate gramma sweaters and she seems to love them. I mean, c’mon, even the mannequin looks disturbed by the clothes she’s wearing! On the fist look the sweater is just wrong and the skirts’ pattern is the cherry on top. Talking about the second look, the colors on the sweater, are like, what happens when a nursery meets Subway.

Accumulated note: (1st 56 + 2nd 58)/ 2= 57

Total: (96 + 57)/ 2= 76.5

Alexander’s Best

The first look is presenting a jumpsuit, and we all know jumpsuits are IN this year (and d’après McQueen, next year as well). The floral pattern is eclectic and elegant at the same time, and the belt right on the lower part of the ribs is what makes it a designer outfit. The straight neckline is super cool; it always makes both, back and chest, look narrower.

The second look wows me, seriously. It’s classy but edgy at the same time. The oversized neck detail makes the chest look narrower and the division right in the middle of the upper part of the body on the chemise makes accessories unnecessary. The pants are up to the waist and the white lines in both sides stylize the legs, making them look longer. I don’t really like the flared leg opening, but it’s all right. If you’re short, don’t wear this kind of pants.

The third look is really McQueen’s essence (or so I believe). It’s bright, turns heads and completely unexpected. The belt is genius. The double end makes the model look taller.

Accumulated note: (1st 97 + 2nd 99 + 3rd 97)/ 3 = 97

Alexander’s Worst

I know McQueen is sort of futuristic but this suits make the mannequins look like robots. I don’t like the patterns and I don’t like the way the belts are used. Oh! And I don’t like the shoulder pads. Hate me all you want, but I have to say the fabric on the fist outfit looks cheap (Ouch!). The fabric on the second look is nicer, but I’m not sure it’s a good option for croisière; it’s more a fall-winter kind of thing.
Accumulated note: (1st 82 + 2nd 87)/ 2= 84

Final note: (97 + 84)/2 = 90.5

The judges have deliberated, the numbers have spoken and the winning designer is obvious. The gold goes to…

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN!!!!! (Applause!)

Sorry, Stella! Truth be told, Sara Burton thought a little bit more when designing than Stella did. I mean, dedication shows.

I’d like to say I didn’t intend to offend any of the designers, since they’re both super capable and amazing. It was just my opinion and I totally understand if you disagree with it.

I hope you enjoyed reading this blog as much as I enjoyed writing it! The Olympics are almost over, so don’t forget to watch the closing ceremony on Sunday!

Shine all over and dream on, crazy diamonds! See you when I see you!
